    Major Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency and advanced knowledge in pharmacy practice area. Resolves and proactively identifies drug therapy issues, and ensures individualized drug therapy regiments are optimized. Provides clinical and operational leadership while staffing in pharmacy, on a decentral unit, or in a clinic.
    • Provides operational expertise and leadership for medication distribution system. Problem-solves drug distribution issues. Ensures drug distribution practices are in accordance with legal and regulatory guidance.
    • Provides support to physicians on medication order entry. Intervenes with providers to ensure medication orders are accurate and appropriate. Provides input to medication order sets in practice area to facilitate patient care.
    • Orients/trains new pharmacy team members. Routinely serves as preceptor for interns, students, and/or residents. Provides input to development and improvements in training programs. Assists with human resource responsibilities which may include interviewing, staff development, providing performance feedback, maintenance of staffing levels, and team member engagement. Provides direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth workflow and service standards.
    • Serves as a medication safety advocate and liaison for department and interdisciplinary process improvements. Identifies safety and quality improvement opportunities. Actively supports and leads department medication safety improvement activities.
    • Participates in and leads department committees and/or department shared governance.
    • Identifies and assists in implementing cost reduction initiatives in daily practice.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to continued individual professional growth and to the advancement of the pharmacy profession.

    Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

    • Pharmacist license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
    • Patient facing teammates may be required to have: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable certifications to be granted from the state of WI or if from out of state, the program is approved by the accreditation council for pharmacy education (ACPE) or by the WI pharmacy examining board.

    Education Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.

    Experience Required:

    • Typically requires 5 years of experience in pharmacy, including residency years.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

    • Specialty certification required (for external hires, certification must be obtained within one year of hire).

    • Life support training courses may be required dependent on department discretion

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
    • Will occasionally lift up to 35 lbs. without assistance.
    • Must have functional speech, vision, and hearing.
    • Will be exposed to chemical hazards.
    • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
    • Exposed to normal office environment.
