- The dietician will help promote and coordinate healthy eating habits to prevent and treat illness through supervision of food preparation and service, dietary modifications and individual/group education.
- Provides sound medical advice to patients on healthy eating habits, risk modifications and general health promotion.
- Present Nutrition workshops and education while engaging patients to be interactive.
- Provides information to the medical team, including doctors and nurses, for the care of patients in the clinic setting.
- Will perform face to face consultation and education as ordered by physician referrals.
- Responsible for treatment plan development and documentation for all nutritional related activities.
- Must provide individualized treatment based on program guidelines with peer-reviewed data.

Reports to: IntensiveCardiac Rehabilitation DirectorPosition Summary
The RegisteredDietitian (RD) creates nutrition plans to improve the health and physicalconditions of patients. RD will use relevant knowledge and training to analyzepatients' health status, goals and dietary restrictions, tracking clients'dietary intake and progress and educating patients on how to maintain abalanced diet. The RD also provides individualized, disease specificnutritional counseling with the goal of improving overall health. Requiresteaching in a group setting, coaching, counseling, problem-solving andmotivational interviewing techniques.
Job Responsibilities
Educationand Experience: RegisteredDietician, licensed as required for the state of Louisiana. Previousexperience in a healthcare setting preferred. Basic knowledge of cardiovasculardisease management preferred.
Knowledge:Basic clinical nutritional guidelinesand understanding of medical terminology. Follows OSHA rules and regulations;various forms inherent to profession; patient confidentiality/HIPAAregulations.
Abilities:Establish and maintain cooperativerelationships with staff members; create a responsive, caring environment forpatients; respond promptly to physicians' directions; maintain medical recordsin a concise and accurate manner; react quickly in emergency situations;recognize and prevent possible safety hazards; ensure proper maintenance ofequipment; communicate clearly and facilitate patient education when warranted;act as advocate and assist physician in meeting the well-being needs of thecardiology patient; exercise independent judgment; perform functions thatconsistently fall within the legal boundaries of profession.
