Akira Technologies is seeking a highly skilled FinOps Engineer Expert to join our team for a critical project supporting the United States Army.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for optimizing cloud financial management and cost efficiency for Army cloud infrastructure and applications.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national defense while working with cutting-edge cloud technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
This role is mostly remote with occasional onsite presence in the DC Metro Area.Job Responsibilities :
Cloud Cost Management:
Develop and implement strategies and best practices for optimizing cloud costs and maximizing cost efficiency across Army cloud environments, including cost allocation, budgeting, and forecasting.
Cost Monitoring and Analysis:
Monitor and analyze cloud usage and spending patterns, identifying cost drivers and areas for optimization, and providing recommendations to reduce costs and improve cost visibility.
Resource Tagging and Allocation:
Establish and enforce resource tagging policies and standards to accurately allocate cloud costs to organizational units, projects, and initiatives, enabling cost attribution and accountability.
Reserved Instance Management:
Optimize cloud costs through the purchase and management of reserved instances, leveraging discounts and pricing models to reduce costs while ensuring resource availability and performance.
Cost Optimization Tools and Automation:
Implement cost optimization tools and automation scripts to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, such as rightsizing instances, scheduling resources, and optimizing storage usage.
Financial Governance and Compliance:
Establish financial governance policies and controls to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints, funding allocations, and financial regulations, and provide financial reporting and analysis to support decision-making.
Collaboration and Education:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, procurement, and technical teams, to align cloud spending with business objectives and priorities, and provide education and training on cloud financial management best practices.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cloud financial management, FinOps, or related fields, with a strong proficiency in optimizing cloud costs and maximizing cost efficiency.
Expertise in cloud cost management tools and platforms, such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or Google Cloud Billing, and proficiency in cloud billing and pricing models.
Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers, usage metrics, and optimization strategies, with experience implementing cost-saving initiatives and best practices.Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes, and familiarity with financial governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
Active Secret clearance or higher.
