    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Business Office Associate supports Association Operating Units in their daily business needs, including invoicing groups and individuals, processing program registrations and financial assistance applications. The Business Office Associate contributes to the overall effectiveness of the YMCA's Accounting Department in its role to support the other Units of the Association.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Ensures Membership accounts and draft information are correct, maintaining confidentiality of all Member and Association information.
    2. Ensures that Association membership, financial assistance, childcare, program, and applicable Accounting Policies are adhered to in daily cash transactions.
    3. Prepares and verifies daily bank deposits, monthly drafting, NSF management, and subsequent cancellations.
    4. Manages the front desk at Corporate Office by greeting the public as they enter the building, directing them to the appropriate YMCA staff, accepting mail and package deliveries, and dispersing mail correspondence to the proper staff mailboxes.
    5. Generates emails, mailings, and billings for Membership, Childcare, and School-Age Care Programs.
    6. Approves and processes Financial Assistance applications and Childcare and School-Age Care account registrations.
    7. Processes and verifies accounts to Collections and Accounts Receivable.
    8. Maintains accurate document filing and retention systems, filing Membership and Application forms alphabetically.
    9. Balances and troubleshoots daily cash transaction journals.
    10. Supports and participates in cross-training efforts with Business Associates and Accounting staff, substituting for other Business Associates in their absence.
    11. Interprets and communicates the Mission, objectives, and programs to Members and program participants.
    12. Demonstrates through action and interaction with staff, Y members, and the public the Four Character Development Principles of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Two years of college required - business or accounting emphasis preferred.
    • May be substituted with at least two years of related work experience
    • One to three years' experience with YMCA, office environment, bookkeeping, childcare billing and/or membership sales.
    • Must possess a strong working knowledge of billing and general accounts receivable functions.
    • Experience in use of Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Microsoft Excel
    • Familiarity with the Christensen software package desired.
    • Completion of YMCA required training upon hire.
    • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

    STARTING PAY: $18.00/hr
