Job description
Venture Metals + is a fast-growing, metal recycling company looking to grow our operations team with several Sorters/Line Operators at our Wills Point Plant.
The Metal Sorter/Handler will support recycling operations by overseeing the process and separating various scrap materials. This position will move material from one location to another and will also be involved in the process of extracting and loading the material to be transported. Needs to have experience on Scale of Materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate bin.
- Experience on Scale of Materials.
- May operate machinery and equipment to process and to move scrap metal.
- Identify and sort metal by different commodity types.
- Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
- Package all commodities as directed by management.
- Perform general clean-up in all operational areas of worksite maintaining neat and clean work area.
- Use tools and equipment to clean and cut non-ferrous metals.
- Communicate job tasks and work well in a team environment.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Housekeeping.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Ability to work in all-weather conditions.
- Experience with metal sorting is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to frequently lift 50 lbs. or more to include carrying or pushing objects up to 100ft.
- Must be able to perform the physical task of the job assigned; to include climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
- Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Outdoor position (under roofing) in all-weather environments: rain, snow, hot, cold
- Could be exposed to dust, fumes, high noise levels
- PPE will be required for all employees. PPE includes safety glasses, hard hat, high visibility vest, ear plugs, gloves, steel/composite toed shoes or boots.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; climb; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, work outdoors & exposed to all weather elements.
