- Minimum of five years' experience in a variety of ship and boat maintenance, preservation or restoration projects. Time spent in formal Boat Building Programs may replace up to three years' experience
- Possess a high degree of skill within the above areas of responsibility
- Willingness to work flexible hours in performance of responsibilities
- Willingness to work weekends on a rotational basis
- Willingness and ability to work with non-professional shipyard volunteers
- Ability and willingness to record, log and document work performed
