    JOB DESCRIPTION

    TITLE:
    Overnight Camp Counselor (1 week)


    REPORTS TO:
    Camp Director


    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


    Camp NOVA is a 7-day, 6-night overnight camp for youth and adults living with epilepsy and/or other intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    Camp NOVA will take place from July 21st - July 27th 2024 at Camp Linwood-MacDonald in Sandyston, NJ (Sussex County).


    Camp NOVA activities include:
    arts and crafts, sports, music, swimming, boating, fishing, and evening outings.

    Camp NOVA is hosted by Epilepsy Services of New Jersey, an affiliate of The Family Resource Network. We are seeking energetic, responsible individuals for the 2024 Camp Season. Counselors will receive a compensation of $600 for the week. Meals are also included as well as air conditioned housing.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Supervise 3-4 campers and ensure they are engaged in camp activities
    Assist campers with daily care routines and health needs
    Responsible for assigned campers 24/7 throughout the week
    Responsible for maintaining the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals that are assigned to you
    Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirement
    Encourages and models appropriate social behaviors and interactions
    Demonstrates a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
    Ensures that all work is carried out in a manner that is both respectful and empowering to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
    Other duties as assigned by Camp Director


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Must be able to engage in physical activities including:
    Walking long distances
    Swimming
    Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED
    Experience with assisting and serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
    Meet agency and state requirements (CPR, First Aid, NJ Sex Offender Registry etc.)
    Must submit to a criminal history review/fingerprinting
