    Responsibilities Peraton is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, develop, implement and maintain the network infrastructures under NASA's Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract.

    This position is located at the NASA White Sands Complex (WSC) in Las Cruces, NM. Peraton is the prime contractor for NASA at the WSC near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

    Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals:
    The White Sands Ground Terminal, and the Second TDRSS Ground Terminal.

    These ground terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA's orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft.

    WSC serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.


    This position will be responsible for:

    • Design network topologies, architectures and services to support the information systems at the WSC and its remote sites.
    • Configuration of network switches, routers and firewalls.
    • Troubleshoot network anomalies and resolve communication disruptions.
    • Capture system installations and modifications within change management documentation and drawings.
    • Monitor network performance and integrity, and report on areas of improvement or concern.
    • Track, create and/or propose remediation solutions for vulnerability findings reported by the IT Security team.
    • Provide systems engineering technical support across the SENSE organization, technical working groups, peer reviews, technical interchange meetings, and periodic status coordination meetings

    Qualifications Required Experience:

    • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline, and 5+ years of related Information Technology experience; Associate degree and 6+ years of related Information Technology experience; without a degree, a minimum of 8 years IT and networking experience is required.
    • 5+ years of experience with Cisco and/or Juniper device administration and configuration.
    • 3+ years of experience working with Cyber (IT) Security concepts. 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco ASA, Cisco Firepower, and/or Juniper SRX firewalls.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 networking principles.
    • Experience with managing multi-VLAN networks and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
    • Solid understanding and prior implementation of routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP/OSPF, HSRP/VRRP, etc.
    • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Visio drawing packages.
    • Security clearance - this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. An Interim Secret clearance is acceptable to start.

    Desired Experience:

    • Prior NASA experience strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with SolarWinds network monitoring software suite.
    • Knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) concepts and experience with Cisco ISE.
    • Experience with other IT technologies such as packet brokers, NIDS, hardware encryption devices, or CWDM/DWDM.
    • Experience with other networking platforms such as Palo Alto or Ruckus.
    • Scripting for automation of repetitive tasks.
    • CCNA or higher certification.
