    LEAD MENTOR

    JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Level Up Program Manager or Mentoring Supervisor, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) is seeking an enthusiastic and mission-driven Lead Mentor to join the agency located in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a full-time, exempt position that is focused on supporting youth through dedicated mentorship within a school setting.

    The Lead Mentor will work out of an assigned middle school, supporting approximately 50 middle-school aged youth (Littles) through facilitating both group and individual mentoring sessions. The Lead Mentor will provide positive role modeling and exposure to help Littles plan and set goals, increase social and emotional skills, as well as their self-confidence and sense of belonging. The support will be provided by facilitating group-specific curriculum along with individual mentoring sessions with Littles as needed, along with additional volunteer management and collaboration. The Lead Mentor will collaborate with a Mentoring Coordinator or Supervisor to enroll participants and effectively deliver the programs curriculum. An ideal candidate will be able to form relationships with youth that lead to positive outcomes.

    • Ability to effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising, and/or negotiating
    • Ability to maintain positive and productive relationships with school personnel
    • Ability to relate well in multicultural environments
    • Ability to effectively and proactively communicate and collaborate with school and program staff
    • Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills, specifically working with youth
    • Ability to work autonomously with drive, enthusiasm, and flexibility to go along with a willingness to work as needed to accomplish job requirements
    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Leads mentoring groups by facilitating group relationship development, lessons, and co-facilitating with assigned volunteers on a schedule established in coordination with the school
    • Mentors a caseload of Littles 1:1 on a schedule established in coordination with the school
    • Provides group or 1:1 mentoring on a schedule as agreed upon with school
    • Maintains progress monitoring data for each Little
    • Prepares and implements mentoring curriculum and activities, while also recommending adjustments to material as needed
    • Implements positive behavior facilitation strategies to ensure a safe group mentoring environment
    • Maintains attendance records for all mentoring sessions in Salesforce
    • Attends and actively participates in weekly check-ins with Mentoring Coordinator to review progress of Littles and adjust programming as needed
    • Conducts monthly check-ins with school point of contact along with Mentoring Coordinator for feedback and applies that feedback to program adjustments
    • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
    • During the Summer assists Mentoring Coordinator with enrollment and assessment of children and volunteers, including interviewing, conducting reference and background checks
    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma with a minimum of 4years relevant work experience in related fields, such as social work, counseling, social services, child development, or education.
    • Previous experience working in schools is preferred.
    • Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
    • Bilingual positions require candidates to write and speak Spanish fluently.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
    • Working knowledge of and use of a customer relations management (CRM) system a plus (Salesforce preferred)
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    • This position will be based out of an assigned school Atlanta area middle school. Attendance at the BBBSMA headquarters will be required when school is not in session and as needed.
    • Regular hours will be Monday through Friday, aligning with the school hours.
    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
    • Base salary is budgeted between $40,000 43,000 based on experience and qualifications.
    • BBBSMA offers generous benefits including subsidized medical insurance, voluntary dental and vision, and employer paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability. We also offer immediate vesting and enrollment in a 403(b) plan with up to a 4.5% employer match.
