    Organization: GI Medicine Research

    Job Summary: Actively supports the research area of GI Medicine (faculty, post docs, trainees, and research staff) by working collaboratively with the Administrative Officer, GI Medicine Research, to ensure compliance and effective oversight of federal and non-federal funding sources

    Department Summary:

    Welcome to the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. We strive to provide outstanding medical care to people with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, to train gastroenterology clinicians and researchers, and to perform cutting-edge biomedical research to improve our understanding of digestive diseases. The division has nearly 80 physician-scientists, clinician-educators, medical center clinicians, advanced practice providers, and research-track investigators.

    There are three goals that define our division:

    * Innovative biomedical, discovery-based research
    * Education and training of medical students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, GI
    research and GI clinical fellows
    * Clinical and endoscopic practice focused on compassionate and outstanding
    patient care

    The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition seeks a balance in its clinical and research activities. We strive to serve as a beacon to attract world-class clinicians, investigators and trainees to VUMC with the ultimate goal of providing exceptional patient care and performing innovative, discovery-driven research.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Compiling and analyzing financial information for Principle Investigators (PIs) routinely
    • Provides guidance to Division and acts a resource on VUMC fiscal policy and guidelines
    • Interacts regularly with PIs to support their questions and provide detail into transactions
    • Provides problem solving initiative to both staff and Faculty
    • Oversees the establishment and ongoing oversight of scholarship programs defined under funded grants
    • Responsible for reporting monthly balances and responding to inquiries regarding gift, endowment, and APS centers
    • Supports effort compliance for Faculty with guidance from AO
    • Supports standard processes such as close outs and progress reports for both federal and non-federal awards
    • Assists with tracking subcontract invoicing processes

      TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

Applies appropriate tools to address issues.
      * Financial Analysis (Intermediate): The process of evaluating businesses, projects, budgets, etc. to determine their performance, stability and profitability.
      * Written Communication (Intermediate): Demonstrates the ability to write clear, detailed, and comprehensive status reports, memos and documentation. Demonstrates an understanding of effective composition, such as having first line in a paragraph state the subject.
      * Communication of Results (Intermediate): Communicates results and recommendations to customers in a concise and non-technical format. Clearly states implications and potential next steps. Presents analysis, ideas, and findings using the appropriate data visualization and presentation tools [such as Word, Excel, Tableau, and PowerPoint].
