    These teams work in a lab and focus on DAA (Distributed Access Architecture) RPHY and PON fall under this umbrella

    Prior cable industry experience is extremely helpful

    RPHY Team

    This team is certifying hardware / software for a virtual (cloud based) CMTS solution.

    Charter had customers on the platform within a year of deploying the platform.

    VCPS/R-PHY - Testing and certifying code of VCGs. Controller based framework. Get code from vendor and test it out.

    Will look at - What is in release notes? What is in the code? What new features are in there? What do you want us to focus on?

    Will work with Operations

    Have a few test cycles one is a few weeks and one is a few months.

    PON Team - 1 opening manager is very flexible with skills, willing to train - THIS IS THE TEAM WITH THE OPENING

    Fiber to home/residential

    PON (EPON, GPON, FTTH) (Fiber to home), OLT (optical line termination) this is the chasse that sits in the field this is what the team is certifying)

    Docsis is nice to have not required since this is Fiber not cable.

    This team troubleshoots field issues.

    They want someone who can do command level interface in the routers and switches, someone who can run the CMTS (central hub for modems and network - has its own programming)

    Mostly a Cisco shop, some Juniper, and a few Adtran

    Most of the time is running tests. What happens when you shut down one port?

    Field issues: Operations will refer back to the lab to figure out what is happening with certain configurations so they can petition the vendors to change the code.
