DescriptionThe Surgical Assistant works under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to meet needs of the patient during the perioperative period. Provides technical 1st and 2nd assistance for surgical procedures.
Supports the perioperative area or other duties as assigned per entity.
QualificationsCompletion of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program
National Certification; either National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA).
Excellent interpersonal skills. Physician relations experience strongly preferred. Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Working knowledge of equipment with the ability to troubleshoot issues for resolution.
