    • Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) / Cardiac ICU
    • Contract Length: 13 weeks
    • Start Date: March 23, 2026
    • Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:30 – 20:00)
    • Hours per Week: 36
    • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
    • Holidays: As scheduled, if applicable
    • Patient Population: Adults / Geriatrics (cardiac, vascular, thoracic surgery)
    • Unit Size: 8 beds, average daily census of 6
    • Patient Ratio: 1:2 (CVICU/CCRU); 1:3 if floated to IMC

    Compensation

    • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220 per week

    Job Requirements / Qualifications

    • Active RN license in Maryland or Compact State (Maryland RN or Compact RN license required)
    • BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
    • Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU / cardiac ICU experience required
    • First-time travel nurses considered with at least 2 years of strong CVICU / open-heart experience
    • Experience with Epic EMR charting system preferred (Epic charting preferred)
    • Ability to float within specialty, including IMC and lower acuity units as needed
    • References: 2 satisfactory professional references required (1 supervisor/manager and 1 charge RN preferred)
    • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
    • Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (travel nursing distance requirement)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based critical care nursing for adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgeries
    • Provide immediate post-op cardiac surgery care, including 1:1 care for the first 12 hours after surgery
    • Monitor and manage advanced cardiac devices and therapies (e.g., FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, Impella, arterial lines, groin/radial artery management)
    • Assess, intervene, and document using Epic EMR to ensure accurate, timely charting
    • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social work
    • Float to IMC and lower acuity units as needed; maintain flexibility and strong clinical judgment
    • Participate in infection prevention, isolation precautions, and emergency response protocols
    • Provide patient- and family-centered education and emotional support across the care continuum
