    THE ROLE

    Product Development Researcher and Business Support role in Hair Color R&D for the North American retail and pro market. For the first six months, roles and responsibilities will be split between Product Development and Formulation. This will then evolve into a full time Product Development role.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support new hair color product development & launch, all the way to the shelf/salon.
    • Support development of scientific communication elements like claims, demos, etc.
    • Qualify new product performance and define robust claims substantiation strategy.
    • Create demos to illustrate product differences, building the reason to believe in the product efficacy.
    • Support registration, notifications, intellectual freedom to practice and product compliance to enable new launches and existing base business.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Essential:

    • Minimum Bachelor Degree in biology/biotech, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, cosmetic or natural sciences.
    • 3-5 years job experience working in a lab.
    • Prior experience in beauty or hair color is preferred, but not required.
    • Desire to penetrate science deeply and support claims with robust science approaches.
    • Curiosity and empathy to transfer consumer and stylist insights into new product ideas.
    • Capable of communicating science and technology to non-technical community
    • Conducts comprehensive analysis in category to determine product/shade trends.
    • Team player and "can do" attitude.
    • Experience with product evaluation and/or claims substantiation is desired. Experience using statistical analysis is a plus.
    • A strong sense of urgency, ability to manage details while responding to changing priorities and feedback.
    • A bias towards Beauty and in touch with trends in the beauty industry.
    • Communication and presentation skills for verbal and written communication (in English) of ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues and recommendations.
    • Able to work in fast-paced environment. Able to manage multiple priorities.
    • Open to travel to the NYC Test Salon when needed (expected ~5-10%) Travel will be covered.

    We disclose the compensation range for positions in compliance with local law. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Wella Company's total rewards package for employees. Pay Range: $68,000-$80,000 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonus plan or variable pay, depending on the role.
