The Registered Vascular Technologist will work under moderate supervision to perform high quality vascular ultrasound exams in a fast-paced setting at the West Campus Building 3 and Frisco outpatient clinics.
Obtain patient history to ensure the appropriate exams are ordered, analyze technical data acquired during the exam, and provide written preliminary reports to physicians to interpret.
Must have RVT or RVS.Experience and Education
Certification as Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), registered with American Registry and Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or certification as Registered Vascular Specialist, registered with Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
Two years' experience preferred but not required.
Job Duties General Job Responsibilities:
Performs color duplex imaging procedures to include carotid, extremity venous and arterial studies, abdominal Doppler or other tests as assigned.
Patient Interaction:
Verifies the patient's identification using the forms of ID as outlined in the hospital policies. Communicates with patients clearly and in a professional manner. Ensures proper patient preparation and answers questions. Evaluates patient's history and symptoms for the procedures clinical criteria.
Assist patient in dressing for exam and attends to patients' physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and table, and positioning for exam.
Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patients' family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate exam.
Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, continued education, and skills to provide appropriate care for the following age groups (specific to department): newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult and geriatric.
Exam Performance:
Reviews orders for testing as prescribed by physician; obtains patient history; determines appropriate test modality. Performs high quality US examinations according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Assists the physician as needed in performing Radiofrequency Ablations. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria.
Completes exam charges and image documentation and forwards to vascular surgeons in a timely manner.Job Performance May Include:
Monitors and trains students in all areas of current competencies. Assists in the orientation and training of new staff. Leads the work of technologists ensuring that procedures are performed according to standards. Participates in the modality specific QA/QC program and ensures compliance with regulations. Participates in various accreditation processes as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work requires ability to read, write, and interpret exams.
Work requires ability to determine methods and approaches to work problems.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in laboratory. This position is Monday-Friday, 1st shift. There is no evening, weekend, or holiday call.
