    Description

    Position Overview: The Proposal Writer assumes accountability and ownership for developing and delivering high-quality written proposal content across a diverse range of opportunities. This role is highly visible, collaborating closely with senior leadership, capture and proposal managers, operations management, and personnel to craft, edit, review, and produce winning proposals. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, possesses excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Proposal Development Support:
    • Write responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other federal government and commercial requests.
    • Generate compliant, compelling responses for assigned proposal sections/topics.
    • Create associated graphics, charts, tables, appendices, and other supporting materials for proposal development.
    • Collaborate on conceptual graphic ideas and work with creative designers/proposal coordinators to finalize graphics.
    • Review and edit proposal responses for consistency, compliance, win theme integration, solution accuracy, and other essential elements during review cycles to prepare final proposal submissions.
    • Conduct research on relevant corporate, project, client, and industry statistics and data to support proposal responses.
    • Interview subject matter experts to gather detailed information and draft responses in a concise, logical manner that meets RFP requirements.
    • Assist in developing strategic proposal win themes and discriminators, incorporating them into executive summaries and other response sections.
    • Support storyboarding of proposal sections in collaboration with capture, proposal management, and other writers.
    • Post-Proposal:
    • Update proposal databases and repositories for reuse.
    • Assist Proposal Manager in evaluating new writing and collaboration tools, refining proposal development processes, and implementing best practices.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work-related experience (5+ years).
    • Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related work experience as a Proposal Writer, preferably in the federal health sector.
    • Management Experience: No supervisory/management experience required.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Excellent proposal writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and technical subject matter experts.
    • Advanced writing skills in English, including grammar, punctuation, style, and editing.
    • Experience reviewing and editing work products written by other team members.
    • High-level attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in or familiarity with the federal/state government sectors.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proposal collaboration/document management tools (SharePoint, Teams, Zoom).
    • Shipley Method Required
