    Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Assess user requests for new or modified software, estimating timeframes and ensuring compatibility with existing system capabilities.
    • Collaborate with users to understand current operating procedures and refine software objectives.
    • Stay updated with industry literature, technical reports, and research to enhance software development aligned with user needs.
    • Develop a comprehensive plan outlining the software development process.
    • Create flowcharts and diagrams to visualize software steps and logical operations.
    • Design user interfaces to meet user requirements effectively.
    • Translate project specifications into detailed coding instructions for computer processing.
    • Execute commands to run and test software, identifying and rectifying syntax or logic errors during testing.
    • Troubleshoot software issues, identifying root causes and modifying software to resolve errors.
    • Evaluate and enhance software to improve operational efficiency or accommodate new requirements.
    • Produce documentation detailing software development, logic, testing, and corrections for internal use and compliance with auditing standards.
    • Draft user documentation outlining software installation and operating procedures, and provide assistance to users in resolving software issues.
    • Conduct user training sessions and offer technical support.
    • Ensure the accuracy and performance of software post-implementation, addressing any issues arising from the implementation.
    • Provide rotational 24x7 technical support as per management guidelines, including responding to helpdesk calls.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of seven years of related work experience and/or training.
    • A minimum of five years recent experience working on IBM i systems, proficient in RPG Free, RPG ILE, RPG IV, RPG III, sub procedures, service programs, SQL, embedded SQL, DB2 for i, DDL, CL, DDS, and Subfiles.
