- Diagnose and repair complex electrical issues involving motors, drives, relays, sensors, switches, and control devices.
- Install, size, bend, thread, and route electrical conduit in accordance with NEC requirements.
- Pull, terminate, and label wiring for new installations, upgrades, and repairs.
- Replace or repair electrical components such as contactors, fuses, breakers, transformers, and wiring assemblies.
- Perform energized and de-energized testing using multimeters, amp clamps, meggers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Conduct system startups, operational checks, and power testing following repairs or installations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues in both production and facility utility systems.
- Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) at the I/O level, including identifying failed inputs, outputs, and field devices.
- Assist with downloading, uploading, and restoring PLC programs under supervision of qualified personnel.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, control prints, and wiring drawings.
- Maintain and modify electrical panels, junction boxes, and control cabinets.
- Support troubleshooting of VFDs, soft starts, and motor control circuits.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems, motors, panels, and control devices.
- Inspect electrical equipment for wear, overheating, loose connections, or safety hazards.
- Document all maintenance activities, findings, and parts usage in the CMMS system.
- Recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Participate in root-cause analysis for recurring electrical failures.
- Follow all electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and arc-flash requirements.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, facility policies, and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or near-miss incidents promptly.
- Use proper PPE, including arc-flash protective gear, when required.
- Work closely with maintenance technicians, operators, engineers, and supervisors to resolve equipment issues.
- Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and engineering projects as needed.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced technicians when appropriate.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Journeyman Electrician Certification or equivalent experience required.
- 4+ years of industrial electrical experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC systems, control circuits, relays, sensors, and industrial electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical systems using diagnostic tools.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial automation systems.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Journeyman Electrician License (required or equivalent experience).
- Lockout/Tagout training (required after hire).
- Additional electrical safety certifications a plus.

Position Summary
The Journeyman Electrician performs advanced electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair work on industrial equipment and facility systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a strong understanding of electrical codes, control systems, and industrial automation. The Journeyman Electrician supports production reliability by ensuring electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Advanced Electrical Maintenance & Repair
Work is performed in an industrial production environment with exposure to electrical hazards, moving machinery, hot or cold temperatures, and humid conditions. Proper PPE is required at all times.
Physical Requirements
Day shift availability as listed; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
