    Position Summary:
    Develops and manages the risk management activities for the hospital by integrating information obtained from the reporting of adverse events, near misses, root cause analysis, complaints, and grievances. Reviews findings and collaborates with Center for Quality and Patient Safety staff, managers and directors to develop responsive programs that enhances the hospital's culture to support patient safety, mitigate risk, and reduce exposure.
    Job Requirement

    Education/Experience:
    Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a Health Care/Hospital Administration or related field and three (3) years of experience in Healthcare Risk Management.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Valid License by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to Practice as a Registered Nurse, and; Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required within one (1) year of hire.
    Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

    Recent Documented Preference:
    • Master's Degree
    • Three (3) years documented Healthcare Risk Management experience.
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

    Knowledge of:
    Principles and practices related to risk management and patient safety in a clinical environment; data sampling and statistical analysis techniques; project management and research methods and practices; problem identification and solving techniques; healthcare risk and safety management practices and procedures; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

    Skill in:
    Assisting with the development and implementation of programs related to risk mitigation and improving patient safety; assessing risks and hazards making effective recommendations for action and correction; interpreting, applying and explaining applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, educational/informational and other written materials; using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; carrying assigned projects through completion including data gathering and reporting to stakeholders; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio- economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
