    Description
    Duties * Establish goals, objectives, and milestones for the Safety and Occupational Health Program. * Prepare reports of findings and/or follow up with appropriate staff to assure that hazardous situations have been corrected.

    * Train personnel in safety and occupational health requirements and safe work practices sufficient to assure a safe work environment.

    * Interpret safety and occupational health standards as they relate to the hospital or other supported activities for military and civilian personnel.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

    * REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CP-12 LEVEL 1 SKILLS OUTLINED IN THE 0018 JOB SERIES MASTER TRAINING PLAN AND BE AWARDED THE CP-12 SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE.

    * Position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. * Position may require q pre-employment Physical.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience:

    One year of specialized experience in or related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes: recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management; applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theory's, practices, or procedures to advise on and/or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards; and training staff in safety and occupational health requirements or safe work practices.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

    • Safety and Health Training and Education
    • Technical Credibility Time in

    Grade Requirement:

    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

    Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

    Additional information * Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
