The Tustin Police Department seeks Detention Officers to assist in supervising inmates and performing various civilian police support services.++
Under moderate supervision,+
Duties
Assists in supervising the conduct of inmates+Monitors inmates on a rigid timeline+Performs inmate intake processes by searching,+checking criminal history records,+booking issuing clothing fingerprinting photographing inmates Completes paper computer bookings all other related paperwork as needed Conducts interviews with inmates Secures inmate property monies compliance Department Policy Procedures Conducts safety security checks City facilities Conducts Title 15 visual compliance checks within jail facility Provides technical assistance public front desk telephone Evaluates processes disturbance calls complaints requests police services Gathers information records complaints prepares routine crime reports Directs callers departmental personnel agencies appropriate Verifies signs citation corrections Collects processes fees Assists field investigations traffic collisions injury non-injury accidents hit-run incidents Performs traffic control directing re-routing traffic due signal outages special events Administers preferred parking program Develops implements community relations public education Prepares presents public presentations written informational materials Assists department tours exhibits special events Serves liaison between Police Department city departments public agencies local community Patrol areas City enforce parking regulations issue citations Reports resolves observed traffic hazards Initiates impound action vehicles violation codes Provides assistance stranded motorists Receives searches fingerprints books photographs supervises record checks incoming prisoners Maintains physical control prisoners minimal restraint techniques Performs security safety health checks prisoners holding facilities Releases prisoners issuing citations receiving bail transporting County jail Researches information citizens employees assists completion investigations reports Issues citations violations laws codes ordinances Drives response vehicle accidents crime scenes County jail meetings events Prepares processes variety reports forms citations applications permits Types compiles tabulates basic statistical financial data Tracks status cases warrants Maintains related files records Testifies presents evidence court proceedings depositions necessary Education Andor Experience Combination education experience training provided necessary knowledge skills abilities entry classification Graduation high school supplemented collegelevel coursework criminal justice public relations closely field Year law enforcement related experience desirable Licenses Andor Certificates Possession valid California Class C drivers license acceptable driving record Valid California Law Enforcement Teletype Systems CLETS certificate required three months employment Complete Orange County Sheriffs Department Adult Corrections Core Course one year employment Special Requirements Satisfactory results background investigation physical examination administrative screening Work shifts include evenings weekends holidays Bilingual skills highly desirable Knowledge Skills Abilities View extensive list knowledge skills abilities expected follow link here Information physical demands mental demands work environment found following link here The City Tustin Equal Opportunity Employer Compliance Americans Disabilities Act City provide reasonable accommodations qualified individuals disabilities+
