    Summary/Objective

    The Academic Dean, also recognized as the Director of Academic Programs, will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the strategic vision for our Academy. In this capacity, the individual will oversee the effectiveness of our Full-Time Academic programs and skillfully manage academy department heads, instructional staff, and associated faculty. It is their responsibility to ensure their team's accountability to day-to-day operational processes and procedures.

    In addition, the Academic Dean will manage the Career Services and Behavioral Support (Student Services) staff fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This multifaceted role requires a focus on both strategic planning and hands-on management to drive the overall success of our academic programs.

    Essential Functions

    Strategic Vision and Planning:

    • Formulate a clear and compelling strategic vision for the Academy that aligns with the broader mission and goals of the organization, taking into account internal and external factors such as student demographics, industry trends, and educational advancements.
    • As a part of the Leadership team, collaborate with department heads and key stakeholders to gather and offer input and perspective on Academy affairs to ensure understanding and create alignment with non-academy staff.
    • Identify and formulate long-term goals and objectives for academic programs.

    Program Oversight:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to monitor and assess the quality of instructional content and delivery. Identify and integrate opportunities to enhance curriculum and learning experiences.
    • Evaluate assessment tools and metrics to measure the effectiveness of our academic programs. Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback and assessment results.

    Personnel Management:

    • Coordinate with and supervise department heads, including the delegation of management of instructional staff, and associated faculty members.
    • Implement strategies to enhance employee satisfaction, engagement, and collaboration to help cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment within the academic department.
    • Establish a performance management system and conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
    • Identify and support professional development opportunities tailored to individual and departmental needs.

    Operational and Administrative Management:

    • Responsible for P&L oversight, including working in concert with the Head of Finance to develop and manage the academy budget, approve expenses and project revenues, to ensure the financial health of the department.
    • Manage the flow of day-to-day operational processes and procedures within the academy to ensure successful continuation of operations.
    • Evaluate systems and protocols for communication and coordination to minimize disruptions and maximize staff productivity.
    • Conduct regular assessments of technology needs within the academic department, considering advancements in educational technology and the evolving requirements of academic programs.

    Student Services Support:

    • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the Career Services segment, ensuring it effectively supports students in their transition from academia to professional careers.
    • Manage and collaborate with the Behavioral Support staff on strategies that address behavioral challenges, foster supportive and inclusive learning environments, and ensure the well-being of students and faculty.

    Representation and Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the needs and interests of the Academy's students and programs. Understanding their concerns and perspectives, and effectively communicating these to relevant stakeholders.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with students, parents, alumni, relevant professional organizations, and community leaders to enhance the Academy's visibility and influence.
    • Ensure appropriate representation of the Academy in relevant forums and events.

    Qualifications

    • At least 5-8 years of experience leading a post-secondary educational program, preferably private or vocational - with progressive administrative responsibilities.
    • Enjoys leading teams and coalition building.
    • Experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities.
    • Analyzes market trends to inform program development.
    • An agent of change, driven by sound decision-making.
    • Extensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction and program outcomes assessment.
    • Resource and budget projection and management.
    • Experience working in the Arts and Entertainment field.
    • Masters degree in Educational Leadership, Organizational Development, Administration or related field (Terminal degree Preferred) - Extensive work experience may be considered in place of education.
    • Requisite computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite. (Relevant digital arts softwares a plus).
