We provide high-speed wired and wireless internet service to towns, universities, businesses, and residents. We have a multi-carrier data center, fiber circuits, and fixed-wireless and switching/routing equipment at 70+ tower sites. The company is currently growing 100%/year and has growth opportunities for top performers.Looking for candidates from the Greenville SC area (first choice) or Charlotte NC area (second choice).
What You'll Be Doing:
In this role, we are seeking a Network Engineer with 5+ years of Network Engineering experience. Wireless experience is not required, but is a plus. If you're interested in adding wireless to your skill sets this would be an excellent opportunity.
This person will be responsible for the design, setup, maintenance, and support of Open Broadband's carrier network and switching/routing infrastructure in South Carolina.
Install, configure, and manage routers and switchesSet up static IP addresses, port forwarding and VLANs for clients
Assist in router and switch deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Assist in setting up wireless P2P links and troubleshooting when required for maintenance.
Maintain documentation on cabling, port assignments, and IP rang assignments
Ensure availability, continuity, and security of information and data
Hands-on work at tower sites - must be able to rack equipment, log in, and turn up
What You Need:
Training in routing and switching, knowledge of the TCP/IP stack is required
The candidate must be highly technical and able to craft solutions. We expect hands-on ability in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including Routers, Switches, Wireless, and network monitoring tools
A background in MikroTik, Cisco, Juniper, or like routing device
Proficient in private and public WAN technologies including DIA, VPN, and setting up VLANs.
A background in wireless internet is desirable, but not required
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak directly to major customers, vendors, and partners while providing a professional image for the company.
Working ConditionsThis position is working in our Greenville SC data center and at network locations in the state. It requires phone or face-to-face interaction with customers and members of the Open Broadband team.
The candidate must be self-managed in this position, with the ability to work for a remote manager providing direction on work assignments.

We do not like to micro-manage, preferring to hire experienced staff that can be self-sufficient once pointed in the right direction.
