    Job Description


    SLB's Software Technology Innovation Center (STIC) is looking for an experienced software engineer with enthusiasm to explore new technologies and drive innovation projects in the Foundations Lab.

    Drawing on solid foundations in computer science and experience with a variety of technologies, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build prototypes, de-risk solution ideas, innovate with emerging technologies and collaborate with other labs in the technology center, and across the global organization to help build the next generation of digital solutions.

    A self-motivated individual with an affinity to push the boundaries, work under uncertainty and enjoy the opportunity to create and innovate will thrive in this role.

    The candidate should have demonstratable, hands-on skills in at least two of the main themes of the Foundations Lab which include:
    Databases and data platforms
    Distributed system architectures
    MLOps
    Kubernetes and service meshes
    Knowledge graphs and large scale data systems

    Reporting to the Foundations Lab manager, the position enjoys a highly visible role within the organization with opportunities to collaborate closely with leading technology players in the Silicon Valley network.

    This is a very hands-on role, where the candidate will be expected to lead by owning solutions from inception to delivery.

    Responsibilities

    Depending on their level of experience, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute in a number of the following areas:
    Generate innovative ideas, establish new technology development directions, and shape and execute technical projects.
    Work with AI engineers to integrate ML solutions in the wider technology landscape.
    Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and contribute to technical discussions and reviews as an expert in related areas of responsibility.
    Actively disseminate knowledge via webinars, talks and tutorials for the technical community within SLB.
    Work across multiple cross-functional teams in high-visibility roles to prototype end-to-end data and software solutions.
    Apply best practices in software design, DevOps, coding, testing, security and automation.
    Willingness to provide technical, social, and practical mentorship guidance to others as needed.
    Qualifications

    MS / Ph.
    D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Science or similar disciplines.

    3-5 years of experience in a few areas: cloud computing, software engineering, distributed computing, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, image processing, database systems, security, data platforms.

    Software development skills and proven expertise in languages and technologies such as Python, Go, Rust, APIs, gRPC, SQL, SparkSQL, Cypher, K8s, Istio, OAuth2, Docker, Linux, Kafka, NATS, nginx, NoSQL, ETL/ELT, ML, LLMs.

    Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, Azure and AWS.
    Strong oral and written communication skills.
    Estimate Salary for this role is 135K - 180 plus bonuses.
