    Director of Operations - Aerospace Manufacturing

    Amotec is conducting a search for a talented Director of Operations for a leading global aerospace manufacturing company located in the Los Angeles area. This role will play a pivotal part in directing and optimizing operations to achieve strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

    Position Summary:

    As the Director of Operations, you will oversee the manufacturing and production control functions, developing strategies to meet operational objectives on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Your responsibilities will include fostering a zero-injury culture, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance objectives are met, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives for long-term benefits.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Foster a culture of safety compliance and environmental responsibility.
    • Ensure the achievement of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance objectives.
    • Collaborate with support departments to maintain internal quality standards and meet customer requirements.
    • Analyze, establish, and communicate performance standards.
    • Optimize productivity, minimize costs, and achieve safety, quality, inventory, and throughput targets.
    • Plan and manage labor, equipment, tooling, and supply requirements.
    • Develop and communicate area priorities and measure performance against them.
    • Lead the implementation of effective systems for quality improvement and on-time delivery.
    • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to achieve scrap and cost reduction goals.
    • Provide effective leadership to maintain a positive work environment.
    • Manage controllable variable costs and staffing levels.
    • Lead Continuous Improvement projects to increase revenue and reduce costs.
    • Support cross-training initiatives to enhance workforce skills.
    • Administer policies and procedures and provide support to department employees.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • 7+ years of Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing experience
    • Experience leading teams of 100+ people with strong performance management skills.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and QAD.
    • Quality-focused and production-driven mindset.
    • Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
    • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering.
