    Job DescriptionDescription:

    Position Summary:

    Responsible for the upkeep of machinery, equipment, and plant operations by managing the ongoing completion of mechanical repairs, supporting the operators with machinery adjustments, and performing changes to equipment between batch runs. Will also work with the team on facility repairs periodically.

    Essential Functions:

    • Evaluate and perform repairs or changes to existing equipment and facility. Keep Management briefed regarding progress and problems associated with such projects.
    • Coordinate with operations personnel during equipment changeovers, performing the mechanical changes required between batch runs.
    • Contract with outside service providers for repairs and construction work as required. Request bids, research alternatives, and evaluate purchase of parts and equipment as directed. Schedule work according to planning, while keeping Management briefed of progress.
    • Maintain maintenance activity logs. Update files every time a repair or preventative maintenance is performed.

    Marginal Functions:

    Maintain facility repairs and appearance inside and out. Changing filters, light bulbs, small damage repairs, painting as required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standard.
    • Bending, stooping, climbing, twisting, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, grasping, fine manipulation, close work, and manual dexterity needed for using tools.
    • Experience and current ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

    Equipment Used:

    Power tools and equipment, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammer and nails, soldering iron, welder, painting equipment, sand blaster, pallet jacks, hand trucks, drums, computer records, E-mail, and other equipment used for plant and mechanical maintenance.

    Work Environment:

    • May require overtime during peak periods or as business needs dictate.
    • Requires compliance to all department and company Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operation Procedures.
    • Requires ability to work in an environment that contains fumes, dust, odors, noise, chemicals, temperature variations, and varying levels of ventilation.
    • Requires team-orientation, common sense and good judgment, professional behavior, effective communication (oral and written), and problem solving skills.
    • Requires ability to take and follow directions, time management skills, organizational development and improvement.
    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Three – five years experience in maintenance / facilities management, preferably in manufacturing setting.
    • Possess effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel within team management environment. Ability to negotiate with outside vendors.
    • Experience with personal computers (spreadsheet, Word, E-mail) and other PC or sever applications.
