    Description

    Summary:

    The Licensed Practical Nurse under the direction of a Registered Nurse implements the plan of care through the performance of appropriate clinical skills and adherence to established procedures with accurate documentation on all prescribed forms of the care provided.

    Care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, legal and regulatory standards. The LPN is able to prioritize work and recognize abnormalities through patient observation which are reportable to the RN. Consistent demonstration of all necessary competencies for the position assumed and unit assigned is required. Actively contributes to the evaluation of patient care and nursing practices through continuous quality improvement efforts. Accepts responsibility for personal growth through continuous learning. Fulfills responsibilities as an employee of St. Joseph Health Services of RI.


    Licensure:
    Current RI LPN licensure, required.


    Experience:
    Five (5) years Endoscopy experience required.


    Skills and Abilities:

    • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, and within their legal scope of practice, implements appropriate components of the nursing process.
    • Ability to calculate medication dosage.
    • Knowledge of aseptic principles, and the technical skills to perform nursing procedures.
    • Skills in organization and priority setting.
    • Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
    • Demonstrated customer service skills
    • Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
    • Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams
    Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
