    POSITION: INSTRUCTIONAL COACH AND INTERVENTIONIST

    GRANT FUNDED: .8 INTERVENTION/.2 COACH

    GRANT FUNDED THROUGH JUNE 2025. NEEDS ASSESSMENT TO BE CONDUCTED AT THAT TIME.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
    2. Possess the desire to enhance the teaching and learning of literacy and mathematics

    3. Demonstrate a willingness to engage in sustained and reflective learning
    4. Convey asset-based stance toward teaching and learning for both child and adult learners
    5. Regular, reliable attendance to the job is an essential function
    6. Three years or more of successful experience teaching children in grade(s) K, 1,2, and/or 3
    7. Trained in Brianspring Phonics First
    8. Ability to recognize and use research-informed literacy instructional practices
    9. Knowledge of early literacy development and numeracy/number sense
    10. Ability to support Adult Learning
    11. Preferred: formalized training in instructional/cognitive coaching
    12. Preferred: Participation or completion of LETRS

    JOB GOALS: The Instructional Coach & Interventionist will work as a member of the district instructional coaching team to strengthen early literacy programs and tier 1 and 2 instruction.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Contributing to and consistently communicating a coherent vision of effective instructional practice
    • Participating in practiced-based professional learning to enhance one's own capacity
    • Regularly interacting with Avondale's elementary literacy leadership team to enhance coherence
    • Supporting educators to implement the elementary ELA and other instructional frameworks at Woodland Elementary. This might include actions such as:
      • facilitation of literacy-focused professional learning designed to build upon assets teachers and children bring to learning
      • engaging in literacy-based instructional coaching
      • interacting with data to inform short -term and longer-term planning
      • conducting formalized coaching cycles with instructional staff
      • intervention for individuals and small groups of students while supporting MTSS
    • Occasionally, learning opportunities will take place outside of a typical school day schedule/calendar. Compensation will be available for this work.
