    Summary



    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.



    Duties


    Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Performs analysis of work processes to identify the reasonable and efficient measurement of the quality of the work and identify areas of possible improvement.
    • Serves as a liaison between the cancer committee and internal and external entities.
    • Prepares routine and special statistical reports, narratives, and graphic representations requiring the use of registry data.
    • Serves as subject matter experts on ACoS and/or facility standards about setting and monitoring goals, presenting statistical and written reports to identify resource needs and process improvement opportunities, and participating in strategic planning.
    • Serves as a core member on cancer committees to ensure that the discussions are consultative, address patient management issues, and contain applicable staging schema.
    • Supervises and coordinates tumor registry staff, assists with staffing, coordinate work schedules, annual performance reviews, onboarding, training and education, and work productivity.
    • Monitors quality of data and develops and provides training for tumor registry staff to ensure data quality and compliance with the Commission on Cancer requirements.
    • Maintains research database and manages the cancer database via computerized cancer registry systems, word processing, graphs and spreadsheets, and editing and layout of reports.
    • Manages and analyzes registry data for quality, education, research, outcomes, and productivity including Maintaining compliance with the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer requirements for an approved hospital cancer program.
    • Identifies all reportable neoplasms abstracts, and codes and enters medical information into the Cancer Registry database to provide cancer incidence, management, and outcome information.
    • Conducts patient care evaluation studies and prepare cancer-related reports as requested by the Cancer Committee or cancer program leadership.
    • Participates in the research process through identification of the population to be surveyed, determination of data collection methodologies, and performance of data analysis, editing and formatting of reports, and ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of cancer cases.
    • Coordinates and participates in abstraction, coding of the patient and cancer-related information, treatment, and staging on all cancer patients seen and/or diagnosed.
    • Exchanges cancer registry data by all policies and procedures, institutional, and regulatory agency requirements.
    • Assist with Cancer Program activities, including Cancer Committee meetings and weekly Cancer Conferences, and participate in data collection and tracking for Clinical Trials/Research.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation changes.
    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Tour of duty subject to change based on agency needs.
