- OR-Two (2) years' experience working for a court in a clerical setting -AND- the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.;
- OR-One (1) year of experience working as clerical support in a courtroom -AND- the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.
- May be assigned specific complex clerical responsibilities and tasks of the juvenile records office as assigned by the Juvenile Service Supervisor;
- Works at the point of public access, assisting with court users;
- May be required to answer both case specific and general questions;
- Prepares case files to be reviewed by a Judge;
- Provides courtroom support and maintains register of actions;
- Coordinates Juvenile Court juries;
- Receives legal documents and processes timely and accurately to maintain the court file;
- Reviews legal documents filed by attorneys and the public to ensure the documents meet statutory, court rule and Juvenile Court procedural requirements for filing;
- Utilizes computers for data entry and retrieval;
- Types and prepares various Juvenile Court forms and orders;
- Reviews orders following hearings and processes accordingly;
- Distributes forms to attorneys and the general public with basic instructions for completion and filing;
- Answers telephone calls from attorneys and the general public regarding general office operational questions and provides the appropriate information regarding the inquiry;
- Reviews case files to ensure that proper documents have been filed and initiates the necessary action to see that files are in proper order;
- Reviews case files at time of closing to ensure that files are complete and accurate and initiates action to correct any deficiencies prior to closing;
- Copies legal forms, orders, correspondence, reports, etc.;
- Maintains court case files consistent with SCAO case file management standards.
- Thorough knowledge of the work of a court clerk;
- Good knowledge of legal terminology and court resources;
- Knowledge of court procedures, the responsibility of a court clerk and its relationship to court operations;
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directives;
- Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and established policies;
- Ability to operate personal computer and related software;
- Ability to use good judgment, tact and courtesy;
- Ability to engage with the public with a positive, welcoming, courteous and positive attitude;
- Ability to maintain good working relationships;
- Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions;
- Ability to work with highly confidential records;
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years' experience as a Juvenile Court Specialist I;
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs complex duties with limited supervision involving processing of legal documents; requires extensive knowledge of legal procedures in the assigned area; provides courtroom support; prepares and processes documents required for court hearings and carrying out directions of the judge; assists the public and attorneys in procedures relative to matters under the statutory jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court; reviews files and papers for accuracy, completeness and conformance to Juvenile Court Rules; work is performed under the general supervision of the Juvenile Services Supervisor; performs related duties as required.
