    Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all plumbing for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

    Major/Essential Functions

    • Performs maintenance and repair of plumbing aspects of buildings.
    • Assess job requirements to gather supplies and equipment.
    • Ability to diagnose and repair issues in the plumbing systems.
    • Complete computer work such as closing out work orders on TMA.

    Required Qualifications

    Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous knowledge and use of a work order system such as TMA, email, Microsoft office, and other needed programs on a computer. Possess a demeanor to work with residents in a harmonious manner and excels in dealing with customers and any other customer service.
    • Some knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general knowledge of maintenance.
    Knowledge of:
    • how to replace plugs switches, combination plugs and switch, GFCI plugs and any combination thereof.
    • how to change light fixtures, also know how to change ballasts, know how or learn how to change emergency ballasts and installing LED fixtures and drivers.
    • how to install and or rebuild, exit signs, and emergency lights.
    • how to install sinks, faucets, how to replace stems in both showers and sinks and caulk them.
    • how to repair toilet flush valves and handle. Also know how to rebuild standard toilets.
    • how to use the different sewer machines we have, to unstop drain line of varying sizes.
    • how to use hand tool and power tools to repair drawer's beds, cabinet doors, how to install and remove peepholes and door hinges, window blinds, towel racks.
    • how to install and replace ceiling tiles of multiple kinds.
    • replace filters in the specified buildings that require them, 3 times a year.
    • exercise isolation valves in hallways.
