- Prepare for classes by reviewing curriculum materials in advance
- Familiarize yourself with the subject matter to ensure accurate interpretation
- Provide sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and discussions
- Ensure clear and effective communication between students and teachers
- Serve as a support system for students, clarifying concepts and reinforcing academic understanding
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and accessible
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Keep accurate records and documentation of interpreting services provided
- Valid and active Georgia license as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant sign systems
- Strong knowledge of academic subject matter and educational settings
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and preferences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Respect for diversity and cultural differences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an educational team
