CoreCivic is currentlyseeking Psychiatrist Part Time whohave a passion for providing the highest quality care in aninstitutionalsetting.The Part TimePsychiatrist manages the operation and provides overall directionand leadership for the provision of the mental health services inthe facility. This position has the primary responsibility ofproviding administrative and clinical coordination for thecomprehensive mental health care program for theinmates/residents.The successful applicant should beable to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and levelof performance consistent with the actual job performancerequirements.Report to assigned facility atdesignated hour to provide direct patient care and associatedclinical duties.Participate in civilcommitment proceedings.
Assess and provide a DSMdiagnosis as appropriate.
Prescribe and monitorpsychotropic medications.
Provide a variety ofprofessional services to include counseling, disease processand central, orderingnecessary lab work and reviewingresults.
Supervise and providementorship to other facility based mental healthstaff.
Assess the needs of mentalhealth services, collect and maintain statistics and dataand prepare necessaryreports pertaining to mental healthservices.
Evaluate and recommend methodsof improving operational efficiency andcost effectiveness of mentalhealth related services.
Accept on callstatus.
Provide direct caseworkservices and individual, group and family counselingto inmates/residents andtheir families.
Assist in developing andimplementing treatment and therapeutic programs for assignedinmates/residents; assist inmates/residents to understand andovercome social and emotionalproblems.
Prepare progress reports;provide recommendations regarding discharge plans; make casepresentations; and assist administrative and medical staff indevelopment of statistical reports on assignedinmates/residents.
Serve as mental health staffliaison in group counseling, volunteer activities andother events designed topromote mental health services toinmates/residents.
Assist in supervision ofinmates/residents, both within the facility and whilein community activities;promote positive community relations and utilizecommunity services, as needed.
Maintain and monitorconfidentiality of inmates/residents and their files; audit filesto determine that allservices provided are documented; review status ofinmates/residents to verify that all treatment and therapeuticprograms are completed.
Assist in coordinatingprofessional services provided by contract personnel, ifapplicable, and provide for that their needs to beaddressed.
Prepare and maintain a varietyof standard narrative, statistical, summaryand/or operational records,reports and logs, using appropriate grammar, to includefiling, alphabetizing andlabeling; review reports and records produced by staff.Properly process all reports and documents in a timelymanner.
Attend scheduled staffmeetings, group meetings and other staff and groupactivities essential for effective program and service deliveryand to promote communications and the proper flow of relevantinformation between administration, staffand inmates/residents.
Utilize established corporate,facility and correctional policies and procedures in makingdecisions, but perform with a high degree of independence andprofessional administrative skill and use sound independentjudgment in meeting the responsibilities and performing the dutiesof the position.
Review, process and respond(via corporate counsel) to lawsuits; attend court hearings, whennecessary.Read, analyze, comprehend andinterpret technical procedures orgovernmental regulations, legal and non-legal documents, includingthe processing of such documents as medical instructions,commitment orders, summons and other legalwrits.
Communicate effectively andcoherently to administration, staff,inmates/residents, visitors and the general public, particularly insituations requiring tact,diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment.This includes giving information, instructions and directions;mediating disputes; advising of rights and processes; and providingreliable testimony, in court and other formalsettings.
Maintain equipment andsupplies as required, order replacement items in a timely mannervia the purchase order system.
Endure verbal and mental abusewhen confronted with the hostile views and opinions ofinmates/residents and others, e.g. visitors and family members,encountered in an antagonisticenvironment.
Perform rescue functions ataccidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basicemergency medical aid, physically removing people away fromdangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people fromconfined areas.Take appropriate action toprevent or diffuse potentially disruptivesituations.Experience exposure to bodyfluids, wastes and experience encounter with deceased or contagiouspersons.
Define problems, collect data,establish facts and draw validconclusions.
Participate in in-service andother training programs asrequired.Report to assigned facility atdesignated hour to provide direct patient care and associatedclinical duties.May be assigned the duties ofany position in an emergencysituation.Remain alert at all times andreact quickly, efficiently and calmly in emergency and other highstresssituations.Qualifications: Graduate froman accredited college or university with an advanced degree inpsychology, or an appropriate degree in a related clinical area andappropriate certification or license (or meet educationalrequirements for licensing in the state of employment, ifgreater).Five yearsclinical experience, which includes two years in a comparableposition. Avalid driver's license isrequired. Minimum age requirement:Must be at least 18 years ofage.
