- Manage a caseload and conduct comprehensive intake assessments, considering medical history, psychosocial background, and presenting symptoms to evaluate clients' mental health needs.
- Utilize diagnostic criteria to accurately identify provisional mental health disorders. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address clients' specific needs.
- Provide counseling and therapy services to individuals and/or groups, employing modalities like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), psychotherapy, and other evidence-based techniques.
- Effectively manage crisis situations, employing intervention techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of clients experiencing acute emotional distress.
- Regularly review and assess clients' progress towards treatment goals, adjusting social rehabilitation/therapy techniques and treatment plans as needed for positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and other relevant clinical documentation.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans and provide coordinated care for clients.
- Educate clients and their support persons about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and community resources, enhancing their overall well-being and empowering active participation in the treatment process.
- Participate in the internal and county utilization review process, maintaining credentials with BBS and meeting county requirements for licensure.
- Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health related field with a clear and current California license or intern registration number with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- Experience & Knowledge of principles and techniques surrounding diagnostic assessment and interviewing, and the social, psychological, and physical aspects of mental disorders.
- Work experience with persons who have substance abuse problems, preferably individuals who are dually diagnosed with mental health & substance abuse.
- Experience working with adults.
- Experience with Medi-Cal requirements.
- Knowledge of 12-Step Programs and/or personal experience with substance abuse recovery.
- Proficiency in Contact Management systems; must be able to type 35-45 words per minute; Database software; Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software; Ability to assimilate the County rapidly required billing software (Smartcare).
- Must meet the qualifications of a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPHA) or Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts- Waived (LPHA-W) and be in the beginning process of obtaining hours for licensure in one of the following professional categories:
- Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT)
- Registered Clinical Social Worker (ASW)
- Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologist
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT),
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- Current, valid California Driver's License and driving record
- Current proof of personal auto insurance.

Job DescriptionAs a Mental Health Clinician, you'll play a pivotal role in providing essential mental health, substance abuse, and support services to adults grappling with mental illness. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of Behavioral Health recovery-based services, including assessments, service plan development, case management, housing support, skills training, group facilitation, crisis intervention, and individual/group therapy.
Your work will take place in both office and field settings, with a focus on providing dedicated support to Service Coordinators and Peer staff on clinical and documentation matters.
