    Coastal Bend College (CBC) is a dynamic, success driven Community College that is focused on student success across 10 counties in South Texas with the main campus in Beeville, TX and 3 other centers in Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton.

    We are searching for an engaging, passionate, Circulation Specialist to help lead our College during this ever-changing Community College environment.

    Essential Functions:

    Performs all aspects of opening and closing the library and the circulation desk.
    Maintains a working knowledge of the library management system and its processes, reports, etc.
    Supervises and manages circulation desk operations, delegating duties to part-time staff
    Greets, assists and refers patrons according to their needs.
    Answers patron queries in person, chat, and on the phone, including placing requests and renewal of materials.

    Checks in and out library materials and relays fines and fees for all overdue and lost materials to the Business Office.

    Helps maintain library website.
    Maintains circulation records and runs statistical and annual reports as required by the library director.
    Performs registration of new and returning patrons and inputs patron information.
    Conducts daily collection of books drop materials.
    Shelves and straighten books and other circulating materials as necessary.
    Implements, supports and enforces all library policies and procedures.
    Interprets library policies and procedures for patrons.
    Keeps library director informed of potential student and staffing problems or concerns.
    Makes recommendations for improvements in services and collections.
    Maintains supplies for student copier/printer, contacts repair services for other issues. Informs Director of needed supplies.
    Assists patrons in operating copiers, computers, and accessing online resources.
    Keep ID records of all new CBC employees and students.
    Handles transfer of library materials to site campuses.
    Handles all in-house binding repairs.
    Liaison with service repair technicians.
    Liaison with off campus visitors and personnel in-person, chat, and over the telephone.
    Supervises student ID flow every semester during registration and throughout the semester.
    As problems arise during registration-resolve student fines, holds, etc.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Open and close the library. May assume full responsibility for the operation of the library during extended hours
    Helps maintain the collection and advises patrons of new materials.
    Answers patrons' reference questions in person, chat, and over the telephone.
    Assist patrons with research questions as requested.
    Keeps current on materials, issues, policies, and new techniques by reading professional journals, catalogs, webinars, and other related materials.
    Prepares a monthly themed display/bulletin board.
    Provides basic reference services and online catalog assistance and instructs patrons in using online databases.

    Serves as a liaison with instructors to ensure coordination of library assignments and for accurate reserve collections and usage statistics.

    Assists with Technical support of the operation of the library's automated system including troubleshooting and software upgrades.
    Troubleshooting copy machines and printing equipment promptly (clear paper jams, replacing toner cartridges, etc.).
    Assists with library tours and orientations. Attends professional meetings, and workshops related to library services and procedures.
    Review new material before shelving.
    Serve on college committees as assigned.
    Serve as a representative of the college in professional organizations and community programs.


    Other Duties:

    Will participate in Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
    Will participate in college responsibilities such as Institutional Effectiveness Committee, Task Force, etc.


    Travel Requirements:

    Travel to other sites will be limited, but may be necessary

    Minimum qualifications:
    An associate degree or advanced specialized or technical training in an academic library setting. A bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
