    QualificationsEducation and Experience:
    Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related field plus two (2) years of professional information technology experience, troubleshooting and maintaining computer networks; or the equivalent combination of education and experience

    Qualifications:


    Proven skills working with switches, routers, VLANs, servers, IP networking, and network security concepts pertaining to a Firewall such as IP addressing, DHCP and DNS.Demonstrated knowledge of, and proficiency in, the administration of Windows OS, Active Directory, VMWare, servers, print queues, files structures, related hardware/software such as anti-virus, backup, protocols and client configurations; MS Office365 and Office Suite software, cloud administration and security, PC/server/mobile device, VOIP and QOS on a shared data network, and Windows PowerShell commands.

    Proficiency with administering and designing databases such as MSSQL, as well as manipulating data through reports and macros.
    Proven customer service skills.
    Demonstrated ability to maintain professional working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
    Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills.

    ESSENTIAL FEATURES :


    Assists with the IT Department's management of the Town's data network, including maintenance of the physical wiring and configuration of equipment such as switches and routers, across multiple locations.

    Works with vendor(s) to troubleshoot connectivity problems as required.
    Manages application and file servers. Builds, installs, configures, and updates servers.

    Performs and administers tape backup/restore, anti-virus programs and any other related functions pertaining to the daily operation and maintenance of servers and/or the data network.

    Administers users' devices, accounts and resources (i.e. setup network printers, install applications, give file and directory rights) on the data network.

    Installs and upgrades PCs, network cards, network printer drivers, standalone software and connects PCs via wiring and network switches and routers.

    Performs minor repairs to PCs and printers. Determines the need for an outside vendor to perform major repairs, and coordinates the repair.
    Provides Help Desk customer service to users of supported devices and the Town's local and wide area network.

    Ensures the Help Desk ticket system reflects work performed and time spent on each ticket; prepares Help Desk activity and project status reports as needed.

    Participates in maintaining accurate inventory of all hardware and software managed by IT department.

    Documents the data network in all areas including system configuration, workstation configuration, workstation and hub(s) locations, back-up procedures, disaster recovery, etc.

    Researches and evaluates hardware and software to establish and maintain Town standards. This encompasses the types of devices, network connectivity, word processing, spreadsheets, database and other software installed on supported devices.
    Works on special projects as assigned. Analyzes problems and independently researches solutions to remedy the problem in a reasonable amount of time.

    Trains users as needed in applicable aspects of supported business computing, i.e., using the network, electronic mail, and word processing.

    Assists in the conversion of data from old applications to current software.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.
