Reporting to the Senior Manager Corporate Counsel Americas, the Contracts Counsel assists in providing legal advice to all business areas regarding the legal processes required to protect corporate interests in connection with the distribution of font software.

The Contracts Counsel will negotiate, interpret and/or manage contracts, in particular license agreements for contracts processed by Monotype's West Coast sales team, including licenses with our Latin American Customers.

In addition, the Contracts Counsel will assist in enforcing the intellectual property of Monotype, prepare files for enforcement (research, factual and legal assessment of violations, preservation of evidence, filing) Initiate and follow-up notice and take-down procedures, negotiate related contracts and, if necessary, coordinate further legal enforcement.

In handling contractual and intellectual property matters, the Contracts Counsel will work with the teams in all of Monotype's business units.

What you'll be doing:

• Provide legal support to the company's sales team by drafting, negotiating and interpreting contracts and license agreements in coordination with the global legal, financial and sales support team.
• Assist in taking steps to prosecute for infringement, including permissions requests, notice-and-take-down procedures, and cease-and-desist letters.
• Management and processing of infringement files, including communication and negotiation with the sales teams, in-house legal team, infringers and their attorneys.
• Advising the sales and finance teams on how to minimize risk while balancing business interests.
• Overseeing internal release procedures to ensure compliance with Monotype Contracts Processing Policy
• Working with our Americas and European Market team

What we're looking for:

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
• Admitted to the bar or eligible to register as in-house counsel.
• Minimum of 3-year experience with a law firm or in the legal department of a company (preferably a software related company)
• Spanish Fluency required.
