We are currently seeking to hire a motivated and experienced individual to step into the pivotal position of Youth Career Advisor, guiding our VIPs through the job placement process. The person filling this position reports directly to the Regional Director of Operations.

    Your Impact on Career TEAM's Success:

    • Coordinates the recruitment of currently enrolled college students to participate in WIOA-sponsored programs at evening, weekend, and day events;
    • Coordinates the recruitment of targeted youth to participate in the WIOA-sponsored programs to pursue higher education;
    • Makes individual and group presentations and recruiting visits to provide information to prospective students about workforce programs, including support services, and financial aid options;
    • Advises and assists students and parents on different programs, courses, required paperwork, financial assistance, and other entry issues;
    • Conducts pre-eligibility assessments;
    • Tracks students from first contact all the way to job placement, transfer, and/or other desired student outcomes;
    • Works closely with the Job Center Team (Program Advisers and Career Advisors) and with other support personnel in the college to achieve enrollment and retention goals;
    • Follows-up with all leads and interested students to provide guidance through the registration process for job center-funded programs and services;
    • Makes presentations to civic organizations, business associations, school districts, parents, and community groups to promote AJC programs and Higher ED Opportunities;
    • Establish rapport and engage prospective students;
    • Knowledge of the college experience;
    • Knowledge of employment and training programs;
    • Approach each day and task with a "ZAG" mindset;
    • Other duties and projects as needed.
    To Qualify for This Role, the Ideal Qualifications Include:
    • A minimum of a GED/HS Diploma is required;
    • 2+ years of related work experience in workforce development or career coaching;
    • 1+ year of experience with preparing presentations and enthusiastic public speaking both in an individual and group setting;
    • 1+ year of experience interacting with persons of diverse backgrounds;
    • 2+ years of experience with computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Mail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive;
    • A demonstrated ability to work in team environments and collaborate with others;
    • A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality, handling personnel matters effectively, and handling employee and personnel inquiries with sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • A Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation for regional travel.
    Additional Skills/Knowledge Career TEAM Would Love for This Role:
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
    • Experience and knowledge of WIOA workforce development contracts/programs;
    • Astounding ability to multitask and be proactive.
    Hourly Wage: $30, up to 40 hours per week

    Employment Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

    Travel: Position may require local travel up to 60% of the time
