    Job Summary

    Under the direct supervision from a principal investigator or a higher level research associate, the candidate is expected to assist in the performance of clinical study sample handling, biological tests, data entry and management, cell culture, and basic microscopy. Associate's Degree in Biology or related fields, bachelor's preferred, prior research lab experiences preferred.

    Essential Functions
    1. Assures accurate and timely performance of specimen processing and QA procedures according to the departmental policy.
    2. Assures completeness and accuracy of data registration.
    3. Follows proper safety and identification procedures when dealing with patients and/or specimens under any circumstance or environment.
    4. Improves work skill through self-study and continuing education.
    5. Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department.
    6. Protects self, coworkers, and the facility by following approved policies and procedures prevent the spread of blood-borne and/or air-borne diseases.

    Work Environment
    • Research laboratory environment
    • Exposure to medical preparations to include human samples as common in lab environment
    • Must wear protective equipment (gloves, gowns/lab coats, eye protection, face protection)
    • Exposure to glass and other breakable objects
