    Overview:

    The Blood Bank Manager is a highly experienced and detail-oriented professional responsible for overseeing and managing the Blood Bank Services across multiple sites within the Northern Arizona Healthcare system. This role involves strategic planning, project management, personnel training, recruitment, process improvement, and effective communication across departments. The role requires a high degree of collaboration with laboratory leads, Supervisors, Managers and the Laboratory Director with the ability to coordinate necessary people, resources, and time. The Blood Bank Manager ensures the highest standards of blood banking operations, compliance with regulatory requirements, and a focus on continuous improvement. This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but must engage employees for project and performance work.

    Responsibilities:

    Leadership and Strategic Planning:
    Develop and implement strategic plans for Blood Bank services in alignment with the overall goal of the hospital/healthcare systems and guardian services.

    Provides leadership and guidance to achieve operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

    Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Blood Banking ensuring consistent tracking of new/emerging technologies and scientific findings.

    Oversee and manage blood banking services at multiple sites, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards

    Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing training to staff to ensure a high level of competence and professionalism.

    Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing procedures and workflows. Identify areas of improvement and implement new processes in collaboration with key stakeholders.

    Assist in developing and managing the budget for blood bank services, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.

    Develop, implement, and monitor emergency response plans for blood banking services, ensuring readiness for unforeseen events effecting blood supply.

    Quality and Performance:
    Establish and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards(FDA,AABB,CAP)

    Monitors existing Lab core processes for adherence, improvement and potential standardization. Reports findings to Lab Manager/ Director for potential modifications and corrective actions

    Monitors clinical quality for process imrovement opportunities,trends, and points of failure. Reports findings to Lab Manager/ Director for review and potential modifications.

    In concert with Lab leadership, respond to and work to mitigate opportunities identified through the NAH safety reporting system(RDE)

    Assist Quality Systems Coordinator with TAT outliers and other quality check failures

    Assist Quality Systems Coordinator with inspection planning and preparedness

    Assist Quality Systems Coordinator for Competency completion and documentation

    In concert with lab leadership, review of all standard operating procedures documents and helps implement necessary changes

    Monitors NAH Laboratory Testing Menu and involves IT with any necessary changes

    Qualifications:

    Education
    *Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science- Required
    *Masters degree -Preferred
    Experience
    *Minimum of 4 years experience in Blood Bank Services, with a significant portion in a leadership role.

    Certification & Licensures
    *ASCP/AMT MLS certification - Required
    *Certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) or equivalent - Preferred
