- Assist in the review of due diligence items that include but are not limited to:
- Market study
- Appraisals
- Property audits and/or operating statements
- Environmental studies
- Tax credit documentation.
- Financing documents
- Assist in drafting sections of the investment committee memo.
- Assist in populating the Underwriting Workbook in Excel using information within due diligence items and the financial forecast.
- Attend Committee Meetings
- Attend company meetings/functions at various offices and sites.
- Perform site due diligence visits as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or Real Estate/Urban Planning
- 1-3 years of LIHTC experience preferred, will also consider individuals experienced with other affordable housing programs.
- Basic knowledge of IRC Section 42 and tax credit financing
- Basic knowledge of multifamily real estate development financing
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a team environment as well as ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks with limited oversight and follow-up.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel)
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of sound underwriting principles.

Generally, this includes evaluating the counterparty risk, ensuring that the proposed investment is sound real estate, and ensuring that the investment meets Merchant Capital's Equity Investment Guidelines.
