- Responsible for all production activities in the area (including customer production samples) at an efficient cost in accordance with approved process sheets, job instruction sheets, production schedules, delivery dates, and quality standards.
- Responsible for providing sufficient materials in the proper location to enable all operations to run efficiently.
- Responsible for the accuracy of production information (OEE, Downtime, Scrap, etc) reported. Responsible for making checks/audits or by other means to verify that the information reported by various employees is honest and correct.
- Responsible for the efficient operation of machinery and equipment in his/her area in accordance with approved standard operating procedures. Work cooperatively with the Maintenance Department and Production Control in administering a preventive maintenance program and for keeping equipment safe, clean, and functional.
- Responsible for training, scheduling, and motivating personnel in his/her area to obtain an acceptable level of production. Reassign employees, productively, in cases of machine breakdowns, mold changes, shortage of materials, etc.
- Assist Production Control and Engineering in scheduling mold repairs and changes in accordance with production requirements and do the necessary follow-up to ensure these changes are made on schedule with a minimum delay on the machine.
- Responsible for making suggestions to improve machinery, equipment, products, and scrap production in conjunction with the Continuous Improvement Department.
- Responsible for effective communication with various Departments including Line Leaders, Associates, Maintenance, Program Leaders, Human Resources, and Quality departments as well as with preceding and following shifts.
- Responsible for control of scrap and excess labor. Supervise First Piece Inspection Process.
- See that defective parts are properly tagged and delivered to the appropriate areas before the end of each shift.
- Responsible for the maintenance of 5S Good Housekeeping
- Enforcement of safety standards and rules. Must be constantly watching for unsafe working practices or conditions and taking positive action to prevent accidents. Is expected to see that proper safety devices, tools and equipment are in use at all times. Must thoroughly check and analyze an accident and promptly report findings on required forms.
- Timely and consistent administration of the Labor Agreement.
- Assist in settling complaints in his/her area and in general, promote harmonious work relations.
- Recommend or take timely corrective disciplinary action for employees wasting time, mishandling material or equipment or breaking shop rules. Make and retain adequate records to support recommended action.
