    Compensation includes a base salary of $77, $116, The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

    Job Description

    The Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Frontend Engineer to contribute to a high-performing Software Engineering team, focused on delivering innovative digital media products and experiences for the AJC.

    Role Summary

    Software Engineering is an integral part of the digital organization, responsible for developing consumer and content products and components aimed at delivering high-quality content experiences to the AJC audience. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in adhering to modern code standards and best practices to produce code that is compliant across various browsers and platforms. They should demonstrate a proactive approach to their code, taking ownership from self-testing to bug-fixing and deployment. Additionally, they should exhibit strong attention to detail and possess excellent self-organization and time-management skills.

    What You'll Do
    • Develop and maintain front end components according to the product roadmap
    • Ensure scalability, security, and reliability of the differentiated product features we prioritize and build
    • Identify, triage and fix bugs
    • Maintain feed and content distribution infrastructure to support all platforms, including apps and third parties
    • Write high quality code, conduct code reviews, upgrade third-party and open-source libraries.
    • Contribute to a dynamic team of fellow software engineers and QA engineers
    • Participate in scrum activities

    Qualifications:

    Minimum:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 6 years' experience in a related field
    • 1+ years of application development background, with these technologies: JavaScript, React, HTML5, CSS
    • 1+ years of experience turning static designs into functional, fully responsive, pixel-perfect code
    • 1+ years of experience of SDLC experience (Architecture to production)
    Preferred:
    • Degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science)
    • Experience with supporting Content Management Systems ( ie: ArcXP)
    • Experience with Jenkins, Github, unit tests
    • Ability to communicate ideas, alternatives, and solutions
    • Proven ability to define and implement effective software development methodologies
    • Proven ability to be self-directed and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
    • Comfortable with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong communication skills, self-direction, and solid problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering innovative platform solutions.
    • Mobile and Tablet programming experience is a plus (Android, iOS)
