- Assists in small group instruction; tutors students at the teacher's request.
- Assists teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions.
- Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units.
- Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions with teacher.
- Assists in assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current.
- Operates standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, and audiovisual.
- At teacher's request, escorts children to and from various rooms.
- Assists students with physical needs, i.e., using the rest room.
- Listens to student recite, read, and perform other curriculum tasks.
- Assists in grading student papers and recording student grades.
- Observes and reports information observed as requested by the teacher.
- Assists with documenting student data at community-based instruction and vocational training sites.
- Aids students with simple errands like sharpening pencils, carrying lunch tray, etc.
- Assists students on field trips.
- Reinforces material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Accompanies students to the office or other areas in the school as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality about students and the educational program.
- Prepares instructional materials for students, i.e., copying notes, enlarging necessary materials,
- Performs clerical and supportive services as requested by the teacher or administrators.
- Assists student during seatwork and offering feedback.
- Assists in giving informal assessments and checking progress.
- Assists students in reading materials or reading to them.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Assists the teacher in general classroom activities.
