    Summary:
    An engineering position responsible for Internal combustion engine, Hybrid, and electrification vehicle research/development.

    This position will focus on charging systems, contract negotiations, EV society and gathering information about emission quality, current technologies and regulatory activity for vehicle emissions and execute the assigned work under the manager or/ and supervisor.


    Responsibilities:
    Emission Testing


    • Support overall activities of Emissions Laboratory.
    • Direct emission tests as using available test equipment.
    • Equip vehicles with the proper test equipment (Ex: Hikoi power analyzer, K-vasar, laptop, etc....).
    • Utilize data logging equipment and software to collect data in the vehicle while testing.
    • Upload tests results to the server.
    • Maintain the ability to analyze basic emission data and report findings to SBR.
    • Perform and records timely SBR / EPA / CARB required calibrations.
    • Coordinate test procedures with MI laboratory.
    • Update and maintain Emissions Lab Procedures manual.
    • Repair or have repaired faulty emissions test equipment.
    • Maintain good relationship with emission lab equipment manufacturers (Ex: Horiba and AVL) to ensure the equipment is working properly and enable the repair in a timely manner.
    • Assist & Direct with the design of emissions test procedure for special tests as needed.
    • Train engineers and new technicians on emission lab procedures, including emission testing, loading and unloading vehicles on the dyno, loading the canister and operating the MEXA and VETS systems.
    • Assist with setting up and testing vehicles equipped with PEMS equipment on the dyno and real world.
    xEV and SHEV Support


    • Work with SBR Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (SHEV) development team toward the goal of introducing SBR SHEVs into the US market.
    • Use experience gained through SHEV development at OEM / OEM consultant companies to help support SBR through the SHEV development process.
    • Interface with regulatory agencies concerning standards / guidelines
    • Work with the charging infrastructure industry.
    • Participate in xEV industry, government, academia and auto maker conferences and meetings – report findings to the company.
    • Monitor xEV vehicle market acceptance and actual usage.
    • Monitor literature for new xEV developments, technologies and report findings.
    • Support SBR's information / research requests.
    • Investigate new technologies of SHEV and EV vehicles.
    • Oversee with the periodic monitoring of vehicles for data collection purposes.
    • Evaluate, diagnose and report vehicle deficiencies.
    • Conduct testing on xEV's according to the EPA/CARB test procedures.
    • Plan charging communication testing and conduct with current and future equipment. And report results.
    • Plan battery cell evaluation and charge/discharge test. And conduct tests and report results.
    • Supporting the introduction of battery evaluation facilities and contributing to the improvement of R&D capabilities.
    Support Testing for R&D's Projects


    • Participate in field testing / evaluations of vehicles.
    • Support and participates in summer, winter and special test programs.
    • Design test procedures for special field tests.
    • Provide technical support on evaluation of test cars and competitor vehicles.
    • Assist with test trip preparation and participates in test/special test trips.
    • Evaluate/benchmark select vehicles through a variety of road conditions including stop/go, freeway, off-road, uphill, downhill, and a combination of city and rural driving and reports findings.
    • Coordinate a variety of information with all staff members including those in the parent company establishing and carrying out tasks.

    Qualifications/Requirement:

    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or University preferable in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Three or more years previous work experience in Powertrain or SHEV evaluation and testing or consulting background. Experience with reverse engineering test environment highly desirable.
