- Review production sheets and menus to prepare various food items as per recipes and volume requirements.
- Prepare proteins, vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients for daily meal production, including salad bar items.
- Cook and prepare food items at individual stations throughout the shift, following supervisor's directions and production sheets.
- Work with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal service. Assist other cooks and dining staff when necessary.
- Conduct taste tests and ensure food presentation meets quality standards before serving.
- Set up service lines with fresh food to avoid shortages or excess.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment to adhere to sanitary kitchen procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Advanced culinary training from an accredited culinary school or vocational program is preferred.
- Must be Serve Safe certified or able to pass the exam post-hiring.
- Thorough knowledge of quality volume food preparation and production using precise measurements with standard recipes.
- Extensive understanding of various cooking methods, safe food handling practices, and culinary skills.
- Minimum of 1 year of prior food preparation experience required.

Middlebury College is looking for skilled individuals to join the culinary team! As a Cook, you will have a key role in preparing and serving delicious dishes for our campus community while upholding top standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.
These are full-time positions with great benefits, including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition benefits.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hourly position with a salary range of $18.63-$22.83 per hour, with additional differentials for evening and weekend shifts. There is an extra $1.50/hr for shifts from 6 pm-12 am and an additional $1.00/hr for weekends.

Requirements
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Ability to lift 10-20 lbs. multiple times a day and up to 50 lbs. several times daily. Capable of pushing and pulling up to 150 lbs. frequently. Must be able to lift items above waist level and perform various manual tasks using kitchen equipment safely. Involves extended periods of standing, along with frequent bending and reaching. A background check is mandatory.
