    About The Role

    The Field Thermal Engineer is responsible for interfacing with ZT customers on all cooling related topics and requirements to support development of Hyperscale Servers. The role also includes interfacing with the ZT Thermal, Mechanical, and Board Design Teams in the design and development of key components & systems from concept to production. In this role, the individual will be able to troubleshoot inefficiencies and airflow issues in new and existing product lines using empirical data and commercial CFD software. In addition, they will conduct research and engage with industry vendors to discuss next generation cooling technologies/solutions. The position will include providing technical leadership and guidance to customers, internal engineering, management, and business teams.

    What You Will Do
    • Meet directly with customers on a regular basis to discuss, conceptualize and implement unique solutions to their thermal challenges.
    • Work with the internal engineering teams to optimize the thermal performance of servers using simulated and empirical data. Ensure designs are also optimized for cooling cost and efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot and optimize airflow in new and existing product lines.
    • Support the cooling aspects of custom engineering products and/or proof of concepts.
    • Create test plans, analyze test reports, and validate the system thermal performance & reliability to ensure the results meet product requirements.
    • Review and analyze empirical data collected in lab tests and prepare results for customer presentation.
    • Support new platform RFP analysis efforts and lead platform cooling solution development and validation from initial concept through the final system development build, platform launch, and sustaining.
    • Contribute content to product System Architecture Specifications.
    • Support procurement team to identify and manage 3rd party vendors.
    What You Bring
    • BS or MS in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace Engineering or related field
    • 5+ years of experience in a similar role or relative internship experience
    • Good communication and presentation skills and experience working directly with customers.
    • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships both internal and external.
    • Basic knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics
    • Hands-on experience in a working lab environment, e.g. experience running characterization tests on server subsystems such as fans, heatsinks, and functional server systems or similar electronic hardware. LabVIEW experience preferred.
    • Proficiency with at least one commercial CFD Software (Ansys Icepak/FloTherm/FloEFD/6Sigma)
    • 3D CAD Software skills (SolidWorks or ProE/Creo)
    • Knowledge of state-of-the-art cooling methodologies including Direct Cold plate, Single & Two-Phase Immersion is a bonus.

    ZT Systems offers a highly competitive salary commensurate with work experience and/or education, an excellent benefits program that includes a 401(k) plan, health and dental insurance, and paid time off. The typical base salary for this position is expected to be between $116,000 and $141,900 per year.If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
