    Description

    Job Summary:

    An Import Logistics Associate is responsible for ensuring smooth importations from various origins into the United States, managing service providers primarily in the US to guarantee clearances through FDA and customs. They will oversee direct imports to 3rd party warehouses and customers for Just-In-Time deliveries.

    Essential Functions:

    • Liaise with overseas operations, suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and warehouse partners
    • E nsure timely legal filings with customs and FDA prior to arrival in the USA
    • Deliver order information to shipping lines with proper customer and/or warehouse details
    • Coordinate with customers' planning departments and receiving teams for delivery schedules and JIT deliveries
    • Track and trace containers in transit to ensure movement and prevent delays
    • Follow up with trucking companies to confirm scheduled pickups and deliveries
    • Coordinate between steamship lines and dray carriers to resolve any issues that may arise
    • Review and process invoices for payment and liaise with the accounting team

    Competencies:

    • Proficient in logistics software
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and multi-task

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in business or logistics
    • At least 5 years of experience in importing/exporting and/or ocean freight industry

    Work Environment:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
