    Essential Job Functions


    Performs a variety of other clerical duties such as faxing, making copies, processing documents, scanning, sorting, recording documents, printing labels, distributing office supplies, collating, etc.

    Types, enters, proofreads and processes a variety of documents and data; enters information into department databases; enters and retrieves data; runs queries; verifies information for accuracy and completeness.

    Acts as a receptionist; responds to questions regarding area of assignment; assists the public in person or by phone; registers visitors; performs intake duties; receives and responds to questions and requests for information; researches inquiries to provide accurate responses.

    Processes and logs incoming and outgoing mail; retrieves, sorts and delivers incoming mail; compiles and prepares documentation for mailing or delivery as needed; sorts, organizes, labels, and addresses outgoing mail; applies postage utilizing mail machine; scans outgoing mail, time and date stamps incoming documents, delivers documents in person or through established mail delivery systems; maintains related documentation.

    Maintains departmental files; files copies of letters, reports and other materials; ensures compliance with records retention system procedures.

    Minimum Requirements


    High school diploma or GED with one (1) year of previous experience requiring clerical, reception or similar work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    Depending on assignment, may require NCIC and LEADS certification.

    Application Process

    This is a competitive, classified position. The Personnel Review Commission (PRC) will check your application to make sure you meet the minimum qualifications. If you do, the PRC will invite you to take a civil service examination. The exam is specific to this position. Everyone who passes the exam goes on an eligibility list.

    To fill this opening, the PRC sends the hiring department and Human Resources (HR) a certified eligibility list with the top 25% candidates (or at least the ten highest scoring candidates, whichever is greater).

    HR helps the hiring department decide who from the certified list to follow up with for interviews and then a job offer.
