    Summary This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT), Position Description Number D and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard.

    This position supervises the customer support service desk section. Serves as a Supervisory Information Technology (IT)

    Specialist (CUSTSPT) responsible for the planning and delivery of customer support services. Responsibilities As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT), GS , you will:
    Establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance. Reviews and recommends approval of, candidates for promotions and recognition.


    Reviews and approves:

    work plans to be accomplished by subordinates; priorities and schedules for completion of work; sets broad objectives; monitors subordinate employees' performance in providing IT services; reviews accomplishments; and takes appropriate action of correction when deficiencies are noted.

    Gives advice, counsels, or instructs individual employees, on both work and administrative matters. Conduct site surveys for information systems designed to verify adequacy of network operations and ensure customer needs are met. Develops and evaluates performance standards; recommends and approves awards; hears and resolves group employee grievances or serious employee complaints. Initiates recognition and disciplinary actions for personnel.

    Demonstrates a broad working knowledge of the organization's products, services and operations, such as processes and procedures required to support the operations of the Service Desk.


    Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
    Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.

    This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.

    Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
    Must have experience, training in the following: Receiving and issuing data storage media for computer operations Scheduling the use of computer time for program processing Collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing Knowledge of programming language


    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
    Must have at 36 months experience, education, or training in the following: Knowledge of approach techniques and requirement appropriate to an assigned computer applications area Skill in planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment Ability to adapt to meet the needs of the assignment Ability to prepare documentation on cost/benefit studies Ability to summarize material and organize in a logical fashion Education


    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    Substitution of Education for

    Specialized Experience:
    At the GS-11 level, a Ph.
    D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.


    Undergraduate or Graduate Education:

    Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
